Going to TechCrunch!
Aug 10th
Well, well. Pigs do fly!
When the upcoming TechCrunch party was announced, I added my name purely because I figured if b5 had something to announce, that’d be a good place to do it. I was pretty sure it wouldn’t happen, but I set myself a reminder for yesterday to make a decision. So I pinged my partners, looked at the bank accounts and decided to go.
Yep, I’ll once again be in the Bay Area – something I didn’t think would really happen until next year. I’m flying in the afternoon of the 17th, and leaving very, very early on the 20th.
At this point, the only time I have booked is the actual TechCrunch event. So if you want to get together, want to show me your products, are a parner and want to meet up, shoot me an email to jeremy@b5media.com.
New Email Address
Aug 9th
Some folk won’t care, but this is actually a huge move for me. My email address is now jeremy@b5media.com. The jeremy@ensight.org email forwards to the b5 one, so I shouldn’t lose any email. This is really a symbolic change more than anything. It’s all about b5 becoming my main enterprise and where I invest myself.
Considering Ensight’s been my email address for 3 years now, it’s quite the change for me to make the b5 one my new email address.
Practically speaking, this does mean that some folk will need to add the address to their whitelists (the main reason I’m writing this, since some folk have already mentioned having to do this … and it’s not like I can email people telling them to whitelist the address, heh).
Also, as I’m now functioning on a new laptop, I’m getting more email going into my spam boxes that are actual email. I try and check them daily, but if I take a bit longer to respond, that’s why.
Shining Waters Inn, Cavendish, PEI
Jul 22nd
I’m taking a weekend off in beautiful PEI. Specifically Cavendish, staying at the Shining Waters Inn.
For a variety of reasons, this was about the only chance I had to take some time off for the next 3 months or so, so I jumped at the chance. I still have to do a couple of hours of work a day, but it’s so close to “real” time off that I’m relishing it.
The irony is that in deciding to go to PEI, I just wanted to stay away from Anne of Green Gables stuff. I didn’t really look up where “Anne of Green Gables stuff” might be located, but I figured if I picked somewhere pretty remote I’d be fairly safe.
Yeah, so Cavendish? The home of Anne of Green Gables. @#$&@ ;-) It’s okay though. It’s not too in your face, and there aren’t too many tourists around this weekend so it’s alright.
I spent 3 hours on a 12km bike ride today along the coast and through some forests. Last night I went for a 2 hour walk to grab some food (an hour each way). Raining the whole time. Like torrential rains and 60km/h wind. It was awesome. I spent about 20 minutes yelling into the rain. It’s an incredibly freeing experience to just forget the world existed and to let loose a little bit.
Course it took me 20 minutes to get up the courage, but we’ll keep that our little secret ;-)
Tonight I’m planning to go to a clam bake and then just hang out on the beach listening to the surf.
Anyways, back I go to being offline. Have a great weekend :)
Beta Testers Wanted: b5media v2
Jul 13th
We’re looking for about 20 beta testers to play around with the v2 of our new design/platform. It’s not quite ready yet, so initial feedback will mainly be high level, but we’re hoping to finalize it over the next 2 weeks.
If you’re interested, leave a comment here or drop me an email :)

So I had a dream about an old high school classmate last night. Nice girl. We rode the “bus” together. I put bus in quotes because it was a minivan with just the two of us. I don’t really remember much about her at all, except that she had dark hair and freckles, but the dream woke me up and I decided to try and find her.
Classmates.com found her, but she hadn’t signed up yet. Myspace, nothing. All the other social sites, nothing. Google, nothing. Variations on her name, nothing.
So I figured I’d future-bomb Google so that if she ever searched for herself she’d find this.
And, no, the dream wasn’t bad. In fact, it was standing in line at the DMV or something. Truly odd. But I figured I’d try and find her. Maybe she’ll be in touch sometime in the next ten years ;-)
