Jessie Langlois

So I had a dream about an old high school classmate last night. Nice girl. We rode the “bus” together. I put bus in quotes because it was a minivan with just the two of us. I don’t really remember much about her at all, except that she had dark hair and freckles, but the […]

“Can Ya… Help Me?”

Alex has started saying full sentences! We get the funniest ones. “Can ya… help me?” is pretty common. It’s said as two distinct thoughts, with a half second pause in between. He does this a lot. Others are:
- Rain rain… go away
- I want… some too
- Why’d you… do that?
- Read me… some books?
- Some […]

Romania Presentation

Okay, I’m back and starting to get settled in. While there I promised everyone I’d upload the pictures and upload a free chapter of the book.
Both are now done and are in one zip located at http://www.ensight.org/uploads/ROMEXPO.zip.
I’ll be posting more stuff from Romania (including a two hour interview) as I continue to wake up […]

Email Tags

The other day, Rick posted a little note about short email responses.
I often find myself doing the whole “okay, thanks, you’re welcome, all the best, you too” thing. And the more email I have to process the more it pisses me off. Which is one of the reasons I’m such a huge fan of Email […]

SitePoint Interview

I used to be hugely involved over at SitePoint. In the forums, writing articles, etc. In fact, between SitePoint and working at a major charity, I really “found” myself as an IT person, business person and musician.
So when I had the opportunity to do a retrospective (the fact that I can even remember a word […]

Back Home

It’s 2pm and I basically just woke up. Really, really long day yesterday. Hopefully I’ll have more thoughts on Romania later.
Basically, I loved it. Bucharest is on my top 5 cities, Romania on my top 3 countries.
Now to clean out some emails, have a nap and grab some pizza ;-)

Pitching VC’s: The Elevator Pitch

Sean Wise, a good friend and our mentor during the time when we were seeking out VC’s, has posted a tip on elevator pitches.
For me, as the guy talking to VC’s, this advice was fundamental. The ability to communicate our vision quickly and easily, without being overly simplistic, but while also being approachable, was incredibly […]

Romania: Day 2

I spent most of today touring the city. And wow. I mean I’d spent some time in Bucharest yesterday, but today I had a guide who showed me some of the churches, many of the sights, took me to the Village Museum (get this, they actually moved “traditional” houses from each area of the country, […]

Romania: 24 Hours In

Phew, I’m here! I wanted to post some thoughts on my experience so far in the country. And while I want to do it honestly, I don’t want to seem like some western elitist. Because the truth is that Romania is a beautiful country, full of beautiful people. Really, the most friendly, giving, generous and […]
