Ensight - Jeremy Wright’s Personal Blog

I’m the CEO of b5media, author of Blog Marketing and a hardcore Canadian (with all the good and bad that brings)!

In addendum to my earlier entry… It is now nearly midnight. And there is music in the room above me so loud that I can’t sleep. It is (quite literally) shaking the mirror on the dresser in my room.

I was tolerant of it for a while. I was watching TV so it didn’t really bother me that much.

I figured I’d give the front desk a call, they’d sort it out, no biggie. I called the front desk, and the conversation went something like this:

Him: How may I help you?
Me: There’s some incredibly loud music …
Him: [interrupts me] Ah, you must be on the 6th floor.
Me: [pause] I’m sorry?
Him: There’s a party on the 7th floor. A few of the guests have complained. We understand this is probably distracting you, so we’ll move you to another room, free of charge.
Me: I’m sorry… You’re saying there’s a party that’s too loud and so you’re going to move me to another room to deal with it?
Him: Yes. There isn’t much else I can do.
Me: You could make the party quieter, right?
Him: No. They book that entire floor every weekend.
Me: So… You booked me into the 6th floor, knowing there’d be a party above me, and you didn’t think to mention it to me so I could, y’know, choose to be moved elsewhere?
Him: Well, they aren’t always this loud.
Me: Uh huh. So, to repeat, my only option is to either move to another room at midnight or try and ignore music so loud it’s shaking furniture on the floor below?
Him: Well, when you put it so bluntly… Yes.
Me: Uh huh. [click]

I’ll let you know how I sleep in the morning. This is not my idea of a good time the day before I have to catch a red-eye though. I’m singularly unimpressed with the overall service of this hotel. I was definitely spoiled at the Hyatt.

FFS, just move to another room free of charge instead of abusing the receptionist.
