As big of an Eminem fan as I usually am, I have to say he dropped the ball on this latest album. It’s supposed to be very critical of the Bush administration and the politics that are going on, but the release date for the CD is November 16th, which is two weeks after the election. This thing should have gone out a couple of weeks ago at the earliest if he really wanted to get people thinking about changing the current administration.

I completely agree (as a fan and from a “affect the vote” perspective). The timing couldn’t have been worse.

However, the video’s been officially released so can easily get airtime if the networks allow it…

This song has Eminems opinios about the Bush administration and its not made to change the minds of anybody

What the hell do you mean “don’t let hollywood icons influence your vote” PRESIDENT Reagan himself was a hollywood actor. The Beatles, probably the most popular musicians ever, even wrote about world events. What you got to realize is that eminem doesnt really write about money, women, and rims. His lyrics are real. Speaking of which, Eminem is probably the best lyricist out there.

Really nice video.. but I’ll say the same thing I’ve said for years. One of the most dangerous thing that “famous people” can do is use there fame for political satire. Eminem says Bush is a bad president equals people that dont want to find out things for themselves beleiving that he’s a bad president. Meanwhile others that follow wold events and read between the lines can make up there own mind. But in a younger generation, who really wants to do all that? I know I didn’t when I was that age. So now we have all these newbie votes going to the poles with M’s song in the back of their head, along with rock against bush etc…etc.. and pulling democratic. Without really knowing what their asking for. Kerry will probably win and then we”ll see. But I still think people should be more educated about what their asking for..

Mr O’Grady (comment #12). With all due respect, sir, it is an artist’s responsibility to keep his or her mouth open. At our best we are mirrors for our own societies, many of which (particularly our own as of late) get lost in the morass of their own problems and general lack of public discourse. At our worst, we are puppets making art deco and contributing to the anasthetic of modern “entertainment”. If you don’t like people expressing their opinions, change the channel, watch the Simpsons, get stoned, and stop the half-baked attempts at expressing your own.

Jeremy is right… the new video by Eminem is really nice! The way they’ve rendered it, makes it look much more astmospheric and they come across with their point at the end of it… I hope that won’t be the part, that MTV cuts off when airing the vi…

I’m not into rap. I usually turn the station. . . This video is great!!! Maybe this is a start to bring nihilist “Why me . . . What’s the use”), angry youth into creating positive change in these dangerous times. Instead of just looking out for Numero Uno, let us come together in community and get back on the path of democracy, liberty, and equality for all the people.

You know whats funny? I start off getting asked a question about a video, answer the question, and then get somebody like Anson calling my reply “half-baked”. Considering what I do for a living, you telling me my attempts are half baked is hilarious. I do watch the simpsons, BTW. I leave getting stoned to you, though. First of all.. Take Rage against the machine. Excellent band, very political, and also very talented. Also one of my favorites. Now the diffrence with a group like them and em is that they QUALIFY there statements rather than running around with half ass opinions that get turned into what some people consider the truth. Plus they give multiple sources so you can do YOUR OWN homework on the topics. Where does Em get his info from? The biased media?? Now when I say biased I mean both ways, left and right. What I have stated and you have attacked me for is not an opinion. It is FACT. When famous people get on their soap box, people listen. I just wish they would do more footwork before they made a decision about the issue. I have no problem in free speach, and for you to pigion hole me like that is moronic. But I (and I hope) you also can make up your own mind for ourselves with enough information. Lack of public discourse?? I take it you dont watch tv much, or read any kind of news source (other than Maxim) with the trials, commisions, etc.. We are puppets making art deco?? Poetic, but hardly true.

Eminem does something he’s not done before: he takes the hate and anger he’s always felt and puts it toward something constructive. The last seconds of the video are the most important statement he’s ever made: as his followers storm the building, it’s not to burn or destroy, but… to… VOTE. To stand in line like citizens and vote.

Regardless of how half-baked some of his opinions are (and the “Bush Knew” stuff is truly weak; I despise Bush, but I cannot believe he knew of the attacks - at least, knew enough to stop them), Eminem’s heart is in the right place.

And the message to folks is this: do you like how the country’s been going? Do you want it to continue? Do you think this insane war was the right thing to do? Do you feel you were manipulated into charging into something we were (clearly!) utterly unprepared for? Do you think Bush used all of our emotions of fear and loyalty after 9/11 for his own twisted agenda?

Thoughtful people can disagree on these points, but the message to vote - to act like a citizen - is as powerful and as inspiring as any flag-waving, anthem-singing, inspirational video with amber waves of grain. Go. Vote. Change things. Break the shit of apathy and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Eminmen’s video is truly amazing. Europe’s comment is just so on the mark. How can people vote for Bush when so much is now known about his administration.
Who do you think is behind all of the voter suppresion and intimidation? I hope this video gives voters the courage to go to the polls and follow through regardless of what they come up against.

Adulations to Em, he’s spot on. I long ago made my mind up about Bush, having looked into shit plenty on my own. But it’s nice to see someone (especially one of my faves) sticking it to the bastard with a song and video that brings it all home. I felt inspired watching this video, something that has never happened to me. I for one am going out to buy a black hoodie. Who’s with me?

I’m not a big fan of Eminem or hip hop for that matter but I just saw his new video MOSH in Great Britain. I was both shocked and impressed that finally an American is saying what everyone in the rest of the world already thinks. We are pissed off that Bush dragged us into a pointless war against Iraq. We want our troops to come home. I have a friend who is fighting in Iraq with the Black Watch and has just been sent to Fallujah to clear up the American “BUSH” mess! Obviously we empathise with the 9/11 attacks and we in Britain have dealt with terrorism for years. We are happy to be allies with the US but not with Bush. He is no better than the people he feels he has to remove. Thank you Eminem for voicing what so many have been afraid to say in your country.

I agree with the other Eric that its difficult to put faith in Eminem’s views since he usually raps about his mom. Don’t usually see politics coming from Eminem. Don’t get me wrong, he’s definitely an excellent rapper. The song and the video are excellent and certainly have a strong impact.
Looks like the animation used is similar to a rock video I’ve seen. I can’t remember the band but the song delt with Iraq and Bush sending troops.

I am deeply perturbed by the comment by KYLER. We are not ‘European pinheads’ as you put it. I believe I gave the American people too much credibility. I truly believed that you’d see through Bush. I thought that you’d see what the rest of us have seen. He took you to war for nothing. He hasn’t protected your country. On the contrary he’s only going to anger terrorists and bring more hatred. You would’ve been safer if Kerry had won. Yesterday was a day of mourning in this country. No one could believe that you had actually let Bush win. As one of my closest friends put it when we found out that Ohio was lost, “We’re all fucked”. Who knows what turmoil Bush will put the world in.

no attacks since 911 under bush…no more saddam…no talks with bitch ass europeans that were in saddams pocket for his oil..facts..the MAJORITY of Americans under stand that there were terrorist before BUSH and that there will be plenty after him but that they will run, hide, and not be allowed to murder innocent people.its us against the world….bush is not a dictator, as many would have you believe…..they say he’s a dumbass, and an evil genius bent on destroying the world….this shit don’t add up…he can’t be both….what he is is my commander and chief for the next 4….either love it or leave it cause europes got plenty o room….there may well be more terrorist…fine more for us to blow the fuck up…we don’t give a fuck..blow it out ya ass!Americans love a winner.we love being #1…and no one can touch us cause we got the bombs!!!!!!we will nuke you’re passive aggressive ass into next year…why do you guys have to bring this shit out…bush ran away with both the popular vote, electorals, and both the senate and the house..AMERICA IS A CONSERVATIVE COUNTRY!!!!WE SPOKE AND YOU GUYS WILL EITHER LISTEN OR HEAD NORTH TO CANADA…..IF YOU HATE BUSH JUST WAIT CAUSE WE AIN’T EVEN GOT STARTED YET…BE AFRAID

  • DeJenn
    Nov 4, 2004 at 1:27 pm

I don’t really think that Bush is dumb or an evil genius — he’s just a pathetic used man and if he’s your commander in chief, than you Kyler, are pretty well being used too.

And anybody who uses the kind of language that Kyler uses isn’t Christian or conservative.

I sincerely hope that Stop the War doesn’t for one instant think that Kyler doesn’t think for anyone but his own tiny little self, because he clearly doesn’t have a brain. My only hope for America is that people like him will see how wrong they were. . .

  • Stop the War a.k.a Claire
    Nov 5, 2004 at 6:17 am

I was relieved to hear from DeJenn who appreciates my opinion and also sees that Kyler is nothing more than a simple minded fascist! Kyler you can’t even spell “understand” which proves that it would be too much for you to listen to, let alone understand someone else’s point of view. In your original comment you said you were going to kill all terrorists and then ended your comment….PEACE. How ironic. I don’t know where your hatred for Europe comes from. We’re just here minding our own business and yet have enough appreciation for world affairs to take notice of your election. I doubt you would know anything about the General election in Britain. The only thing you were correct about is that there were terrorists before 9/11. Of course there were but this war has only created more terrorists. Your President being the main one. Peace!

  • DeJenn
    Nov 5, 2004 at 9:29 am

Claire – Please be assured that there are many, many of us here that think like I do and see through this administration. Eminem obviously does. We tried so hard to change things and just because we lost this election that doesn’t mean we will stop trying – there will be other elections. If you are curious, check out the websites for moveon.org or unitedforpeace.org and you will see what I mean. These are just a couple of groups — the numbers are huge.

I am frightened by what the future holds – it will be a long time before things get any better. I think you know what I mean when you see posts by idiots like Kyler. Wish us luck! – DeJenn a.k.a. Becky

emimem is just jumping on the the anti bush bandwagon, what the fuck does he know. His timing sucks as well, the us presidential race has all ready been contested, so it doesnt really make any sense to release his anti bush promo video.

Dont get me wrong im not a dubya fan however i find it outrageous that people like eminem and michael moore are making money from bush’s name.
I wouldnt be surprised if we see a celsius 9/11 hitting the cinemas in the near future.

  • Mistakes can be corrected
    Nov 5, 2004 at 12:21 pm

From what I’m seeing, the fear factor is playing a major role in peoples opinions and stand points. Bush is the future, that could be good or bad, we just have to see whatever happens, and as human beings and brothers and sisters in another light should just prepare ourselves for anything, not being suprised at the wrong decisions made, or the right. What ever we think, evidentaly does not matter, as we’ve seen time and time again. There is something more sinister that is being played under ground. This is wherre Eminems new video hits a button which has always been hit but never seen in such a way. You can argue all you want about conspiracy theories and such, but the fact of the matter is, that majority of the video is portraying FACTS. I used to work for an agency involving communication with the US similar agency, and I’m telling you, those dark meetings and coversings brought more than unanswered questions and blatant seen mistakes which were most of the time just swept under the carpet because it didn’t and never will make it out.

Your comments LAM are so flawed, I’m not sure how you got the jumping on the band wagon part, because it’s people like Michel M and Eminem which actually say what needs to be said. They are purely stating an opinion and whether that’s about sex, drugs, gangs, the president, it’s the truth. Yes they get money for what they say and present, but hey, good for them, at least they don’t get money for killing innocent people and lying out of their teeth, not to mention representing a nation making them seem stupid if he (Bush) is the best the United States can come up with!

Kyler, no matter what you say, it’s all in vain, because the truth of the matter is, your belief amounts to nothing. You believe in someone who doesn’t really care about what you or I think. I’ve just visited this site and have found your statements not only shocking but amusing. Because it’s funny how sooo many inteligent people fall foul of Bush’s lies. He went to war because he was embarrassed about his terribly poor your in presidential office. After 9/11 he needed a reason for the american public to believe in him again, this and many other not good enough reasons are why he went to war.Eminem, preach it.

Thanks Kyler for confirming my point. I actually live in the states and for your information I have also worked in iraq as a nurse. The only time I was driven out was when my “great” country started bombing the place. I’m sure you haven’t experienced such situations YET! Bush got rid of Sadam to cover up his mess wid 9/11 and if you didn’t know that he also didn’t find the W.O.M.D (weapons of mass destruction if you didn’t know that) which apparantly was his reason to go to war in the first place! Goodnight Kyler, live it up.

kyler, prove that the WMD were moved out. Because the CIA said they never existed and Saddam had no capacity to make them. In fact, every single government report for the last 2 years has said that very thing.

no need to….if scott peterson can be tried and convicted on circumstantial evidence then so can saddam…the point is that if there were no wmd’s like you and that saddam was no threat to the US then bush is a bullshitter….i disagree..if the president is told by everyone in the world that that saddam was a threat to the US and the region then he needed to step down.. before the war everyone said don’t go to war but nobody said why…no one said saddam didn’t have weapons…we were preparing for chemical/biological attacks…they never came…we honestly believed that they were there.whether he had weapons or not, after 911, if the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES ORDERS YOU TO STEP DOWN THEN BY GOLLY YOU BETTER LISTEN….bush was sending a message….no more bullshit…what you guys don’t understand is that the majority of americans do not care if there were weapons or not……you know how i feel about….they will turn up somewhere in the future and you’ll be like “damn that dumbass kid on the net was right”….if the arabs aquire weapons…the ARABS willn use them.. be glad for bush….oh what about his arab connections….saudis…whatever…there are more US soliders in Saudi areas than anywhere else…we are stabilizing the region…we need iraq to be a success…it will be …weapons or not….it does not matter….i am about going to iran next and smackin a some sense into those bitches..they better stop messin about w/ nuclear or they’re next

I just got back from work… man, Kyler get a life, if you really wana prove your point, then try at least to do just that, because from what I’ve just read, there is no point what so ever to listen to people like you. Please find some time to be more contructive with your words, because what you say is (now I’m lowering myself to your level, I guess I’m tired too) shit. Get your banner and say we’ve won the war… but in all truth, look in your mirror and realise you are blessed to even have one. We’ve won nothing, they the casualties of war (only a few tens of thousands) have lost, the only winners in this is the press. Reply Kyler and dig yourself a deeper hole, I know you will.

love to reply to my new best friend…..what you don’t understand is that I do have a life..why am i the dumbass kid w/ no life b/c i dig current world events and have opinions that differ from yours? you sound like michael moore who honstly believes that 59 million americans have been brainwashed by bush and the media..might as well just call me a dumbass redneck with a taste for blood….militant islamic blood..have you seen the video of the marine shooting that unharmed injured insurgant in the mosque in fallujah?…i have and i love that shit..you see it as a cruel act that violates gineva conv…..i see it as doing this guy a favor and sending him to allah…they have booby trapped dead bodies and set little traps all over…fallujah should have been hit w/ one of those bombs the size of a VW bug….but then then you girls would all cry about the loss of life..forget 911, what about the first WTC attacks 30 days after clinton came into office, what about USS Cole?..what about the embassy bombings?…we are fighting a new war and to win this war we gotta do it in unconventional ways…search and destroy..war has been declared on MY WAY OF LIFE and we (the majority of americans, BUSH COUNTRY) refuse to take anymore shit….all you guys probably think that b/c our foriegn policy that we deserved to be attacked and taught a lesson….this is where you and me differ my good friend jerdane..are you a female by the way?

History has proven that appeasment does not work..you guys sound like the same people who denied the holocost ever happened…..mass graves in northern iraq is enough of a case for war…they deserve the right to bad mouth their future president…the same right all you guys are enjoying right now..love to hear how you disagree w/ that ill pill

Actually history has proven that it DOES work. The number of deals and such that have been struck in history where countries nearly at war have stopped is well beyond the number where appeasement and diplomatic negotiations didnt’ work.

I can think of dozens of examples where diplomacy won out. Including the Cold War. Can you imagine what would have happened if the US had run into Russia and tried to “stop it before it started”?

    Good gawd. I shudder.

not so fast my good friend…cooler heads at times have prevailed…but do not make the mistake of saying that simply b/c we did not sling/trade nukes w/ the reds, do not think for a second that the cold war was not won in other wars/battles around the globe…the cold war was won on several fronts and many soliders died winning that war…appeasement does not apply..and then?

new world with new rules and new world players….old rules need not apply….the united states of america has now become the most hated infamous country in the world and we love it b/c now everyone really says what they feel…bin laden succeded in his mission..good for him, but he has made one mistake…he has underestimated the americans will and resolve to win….he has studied vietnam and the first gulf war where b/c of public opinion we pulled back…not this time….we are a pre-emptive country who will strike first and take criticms later….the entire world can “F” off cause we do not care and if you really got a problem…..all ya gotta do is put an army together and we will see who has the last word….it will be us every time…the worlds sympathy for these bastards sickens me about as much as bush sickens them…
