We’re just putting the final touches to our South by South West (known as SXSW or, to Darcie, as “SWSXSY”). Last year we put on a small BlogNetworkCamp event. There were 3 networks there and we talked for a few hours about basic stuff like blogger pay, backend tech, standards, etc.
We’ll be doing the same kind of event this year, but hoping for both a bit more structure and a couple more networks to turn out. We’ll also have a couple of service providers on hand to chat about ways to do stuff with their tools (without it being too pitchy… we really just want them to hear from our industry about how we do what we do, so they can improve what they do for us!).
We’re working with Chrispian Burks on this. It’ll be during the first Monday of SXSWi. Just working on final details for location/time/etc, however expect it to be during the day from just after lunch until dinner ish (4-5 hours). We’ll then bail to the WordPress party or something.
The event is open to everyone. We’ve already extended invites to a bunch of networks, but we’re also pretty positive we’ve missed a few, hence this note!
While the event IS open to everyone, obviously the folk who’ll get the most value are blog network owners, managers or editors. Network bloggers will get some value. Folk trying to understand the industry’s values, challenges and priorities will get some too. And, as last year, we are expecting a few folk just to come out of curiosity.
If you’re interested you can just show up or you can let Darcie know: darcie@b5media.com. Just say “I’m coming to BNC” and she’ll put your name down so we’re sure we have enough food.
Also, the b5media ranch still has a handful of spaces open, so if you feel like camping (free of charge) for SXSW, let Darcie know as well

You might wanne stress the “everyone can come” – at first two time readings it said more to me “only people running networks”.
If it is not too far of I will try to attend it, it will be interesting how the discussion goes on the non native english customers.
