Me Luvs Me Some Akismet
Mike’s post reminded me to check on our Akismet stats. The last time Mike posted an update he was at 1MM spam comments and we were at 2MM. He’s since added 1MM new comments. During the same time, b5media’s Akismet blocked 3.5MM additional spam comments.
TechCrunch is now blocking 15,000 spam comments per day. We’re now blocking about 50,000 per day.
The TechCrunch figures are insane for just half a dozen sites (b5′s blocking spam across 200 sites).
Thank goodness for Akismet, eh Mike?

I heart Akismet big time. Some of my b5 blogs are not long out of 100k spam blocked, and the mistake rate is decreasing all the time.
And Akismet + WP 2.1 = fabulous. The ability to mark things as spam or despam them is fabulously easy.
