I’m Clueless with Bluetooth… Wanna Help?

I’m like the worst geek in the world. I had my RAZR for a year, and never once used the bluetooth on it… So, until today, I was a Bluetooth virgin.

During my recent trip I took lots of pictures and video, and I’m trying to get those off of the SLVR onto the Vaio… But I have no idea how. I *think* I managed to pair them. I can now use the Vaio to do dial-up networking through the phone (not that I would).

But I can’t get pics off or anything… Anyway, if someone wants to help me pop my bluetooth cherry, that’d be great :)

Once you have paired the devices (I use a Motorola V351 and a Powerbook) you should be able to Browse the device (Browse is under my Bluetooth menu). The Razr should support browse.

On both of the Bluetooth enabled phones I’ve used, it’s been a matter of navigating to the media you want to move, and then choosing Send (and then Via Bluetooth) or Move (and then something like To Another Device).

In any case, it hasn’t been at all intuitive.

The way bluetooth works between machines is usually quite similar. You should have a bluetooth folder in ‘My Documents’ or on your desktop. Not sure about the RAZR specifically, but as Darren said, usually it’s simply a case of navigating to the media you want to send, and choosing to send it via Bluetooth. Your PC will then prompt you, confirming you want to accept the file, and upon acceptance, it should appear in your bluetooth inbox/folder shortly after.

Good luck! I’ve been doing it with my Samsung T809 for a while, and it’s a helpful and easy way to get files to and from your phone.

Not sure about the Razr phone (don’t have one) but I did a step by step walkthru for setting up bluetooth with a pocket pc here: http://www.makeyougohmm.com/20040116/478/

Is your problem on the Windows side or the Razr side?

hmmm… bluetooth just works for me. I guess if you had a mac, it would just work. :-p
