FireFox vs IE7: Tabs
Just a quick video illustrating why I prefer IE7′s tab interface to FireFox’s. Click through to see the video (too big for main page).

Just middle-click the tab to close it in Firefox :-)

Doesn’t help on the laptop where I can’t middle-click ;-)

End of the day, opening and closing tabs is more seamless in IE7. It’s a small thing, but combined with the other improvements (printing, security, speed of loading and page loads, etc, etc), this is why I love IE7.
IE6 is painful now. FF is fine, but just isn’t as polished or friendly (for me).

You’re comparing firefox 1.5 to IE7 beta — probably better to go grab the Firefox 2 beta when it comes out, or maybe alpha3. Shouldn’t be long now. (When’s IE7 due out, anyway?)
There’s been one major improvement, which is a close button on each tab. And there’s still middle-click and Ctrl-W, of course. There’s also the ability to undo closing a tab in the what will become Firefox 3, although there’s extensions which do this anyway.
Also, from bugzilla: ‘Make it easier to get back to the “parent tab” when you click a link that opens in a new window: if a link opens a new tab with focus, when that tab is closed, focus returns to its parent tab only if you have not manually switched to another tab.’
Tab Mix Plus does some nice stuff too ;-)

Until Microsoft can figure out all the major bugs in IE7 (which might not be until its final release), I never recommend installing it. I’ve had a lot of people complain to me how it destroys the computer’s dll library during uninstallation.
I personally have IE7b3 installed on another computer, and it’s a lot smoother-running than the previous beta. As long as Firefox has the extensibility factor in its favor, I won’t even think about switching to other browsers. I like all the extensions available that add functionality no other browser can offer.
As said though, you might want to compare the testing versions of Firefox 2.0 to IE7b rather than 1.5. If you want to use 1.5, compare it with IE6.
Firefox 3.0 is set to be released in mid to late 2007…so the improvements keep on coming.

Why don’t you use your keyboard to close tabs? Much faster and easier…

You can middle click to open links in new tabs, and close tabs in IE7, this is not a firefox only feature.
I love IE7′s features, however since that lawsuit forced them to handle activex differently, I’m having a very hard time accepting the “click to activeate and use this control” thing.
