Well, BlogExplosion.com has sold. Again. We had a buyer 6 weeks ago, but ultimately he defaulted on his responsibilities. This time we decided to give SitePoint a whirl. Typically sites don’t go for more than 20x monthly revenue there, but the guys had had enough of fussing around for a few extra grand and simply wanted to move on.

Really it’s the best thing for everyone, since the community’s been in limbo, domains have been in limbo and the whole deal had been waiting for the other party to come through.

Now, within 48 hours, the site sold again. At a higher price than last time.

We’ll have more details later, but suffice to say that it’s always nice to have multiple parties clamoring to be the highest bidder. Ultimately we chose a buyer that we’re very happy with, and we’re sure the community will be very happy with as well. They have massive experience building some of the biggest community sites ever, so are perfectly suited to take BlogExplosion to the next level.

As an aside, I realized that 5 of my sales are amongst the 25 most viewed sales in SitePoint history (BlogExplosion.com being one of them). That’s always nice.

Congrats to Jeff and Thomas, congrats to the community and congrats to the new buyer. We should have all the initial legal work and initial payment this week, and after that I’m probably out of the blog brokering business. Not because of Jeff and Thomas, but just because it’s time for me to focus my time totally on b5media :)
