Scoble… To PodTech?!

Yes, it’s just a rumor, but Tom, Matthew, Jason and Andy are already talking about it.

Am I surprised Scoble’s leaving? Naw. I think anyone who even tangentially knows him knows he wasn’t 100% happy at Microsoft. Loved the job, loved the people, loved Channel 9. I just think there were some “soft” things that were important to him that have been grating on him.

I am surprised he’d go to PodTech though. PodTech has vaguely responded:

Robert will post his comments on the news. We will be at vloggercon tomorrow to answer questions on the news to the future news organization (videobloggers). Robert will have a full story to tell there. Alot to talk about tomorrow. PodTech will be putting out a formal press release on Monday morning.

Ahh, Robert has posted. He sets the record straight in a lot of areas on this, and confirms that it is happening:

So, what about the other news? This is a rapidly-evolving part of my life. I just made this decision and it got out before I was completely ready to talk about it. I invite you to meet with me at the VLoggerCon tomorrow evening at 3 to 6 p.m. in San Francisco where we’ll talk about it further (and I’ll post again tomorrow about what’s going on in my life and why I made this decision).

I hope he gets VP of Marketing or somethign as a position, and not just some headpiece position. He deserves better than to just be a figurehead. He’s incredibly intelligent, and I wish him and PodTech all the best in the new relationship…

Even if I am incredibly surprised that he’d go to a podcasting network ;-)

    Jeremy

What’s up bud, long time no talk, I got your book and have started to read it.

I talked to Scoble in person yesterday, it’s going to happen. He has a background in journlism and is a video blogger and blogger –it’s a perfect fit for podtech that needs to cover those areas. Since he knows everyone and nearly every company in the valley I prophesize he’ll become THE silicon valley reporter.

You know J I’m thinking that it isn’t so surprising going to a podcast network. Think about all the work on Channel 9.

Maybe Scoble is going to have to brush up on his interviewing skills. Boy if he thought he was mobbed at Gnomedex last year …
