What’s a Great Headset?

Category: GeneralJeremy Wright @ 3:36 pm

I left my newest headset in Toronto. I feel like I go through headsets like 5 times per year. Between travelling, kids and general wear and tear they rarely seem to last me very long. However, because I go through them so often, I can be a little picky.

So, I’m looking for recommendations on a headset (less than 50$ would be ideal, since I do lose them so often).

Some of the things I’m looking for:

- boom on the right side of the face
- inline volume adjustment / mic mute
- full vertical headset (doesn’t rest on my ears)

It’d be great if it was USB, it’d be nice to have decent sound. I’ll be using it primarily for Skype and for gaming (as well as when travelling). Something small would be nice. But the above 3 things are the key.

Danke!

I’ve liked Plantronics stuff for a long, long time. I have one for my phone. For my computer I have a Logitech Internet chat … doesn’t meet the right-side mic req though.

Any particular plantronics set you like Tris? I’ve used a few and found them to be pretty good too :)

I have Plantronics DSP 5000. Around $80. That’s the one Doug at IT Conversations asks people to use. Good quality, been very happy with it and doesn’t pop much.

Jeremy, the way you go through them, stick with the basic 10 dollar one, though whatever the last one was sounded fine this end !

I just got a Logitech Premium USB Headset 350 and I love it. Simple connection, no software to install. In-line volume and mute. Great sound and low noise. Here’s the web site:
