I’ve decided to get back into collecting. When I was younger, I had a paper route. All the money from the paper route went into collecting cards – mainly baseball cards. At one point, my collection (through shrewd trading) was worth north of 10,000$. Not bad for a 13 year old.

But that was never the point. Collecting agrees with my personality. Sitting on the floor or at a table, sifting through hundreds of whats-its looking for something special just really agrees with me. It’s calming, soothing. It’s likely the same type of activity as when I used to play ping pong, along, for hours at a time. It lets my body do one thing while my mind does another.

I’ve decided to start collecting again. This time, coins.

In case you care, I’m collecting Canadian coins, largely before 1990, with a focus on quarters. At this point, the collection is only about 200 coins, most in fairly good condition (sorry, my education on numismatics isn’t at the point where I can accurately grade anything yet).

I’m having fun, and as soon as I have 4-5 days off I’ll enjoy doing some more serious reading on the matter.

I’ll likely be putting up pictures of some of the interesting things I find from time to time, so don’t be surprised if you open Ensight’s feed one day and find the devil’s hair version of a Canadian 50$ bill some day ;-)
