Just a note that as part of b5media I’m testing out Yahoo feed ads right now. They likely won’t stay (it’s just to see how and if they work). Let me know if they’re overly obtrusive and I’ll pull them down, otherwise they’ll likely stay up for about 3 days (unless nobody hates them and they perform really well, in which case they might stay… or not, I haven’t decided).

Look good to me. I’d like to see more ads around here.

One for every post is too much.
“Mortgage Rates Hit Low Records” one shows up 5 times out of 9.

The annoying part was that Bloglines listed 11 posts as being new when really only 1 was (since they all updated).
They’re pretty obtrusive when you’re looking at a list of them, but we’ll see how it goes as individuals.

Maybe I will try out Yahoo feed ads.. I had applied for Google feed ads but never got accepted when they were still in beta. I haven’t seen them being offered since. As for Yahoo are they as picky as Google about running other contextual items?
BTW, I like your blog and will probably be mentioning it at Blog Smart Resources soon. Take care and keep up the good work.

Nathan: Yeah, there was no real way to make it just do the new posts I added. Let me know if it’s still obtrusive when I only have 1-2 posts that are new per day.
Keith: Yahoo’s ToS is much more open than Google. I don’t know if they’re more flexible though, since every service says “dont’ show us with other services” … So we just stay away from the whole curfuffle by not mixing and matching.

Jeremy, I’d be itnerested to hear how well the ads have performed for you.

Peter, an eCPM of about 1.50$ is what I’m seeing so far, and a CTR of 1-2%.

Nice CTR, but the eCPM looks a bit disappointing.

It’s better than it was 6 months ago, and it’s enough to make it worthwhile, since right now it’s a wash income-wise.
They also seem fairly unintrusive, which is good.
