I’m getting reports from around the web of books arriving on reviewers doorsteps… Crazy. I don’t have mine yet. Maybe I should post an “unpacking ritual” post when I receive it?

I think you have to establish yourself as a good reviewer first. I just received one this morning and already started reading. You can seek new authors first and review their books.

Bill, it’s MY book that’s arriving…

Make sure you offer the box some coffee (or tea) and a trip to the bathroom before you open it.

Grats Jeremy. Is your publisher looking for new authors? I’m interested in writing a similar book. Well, not too similar

Yeah…what Bill said… maybe you should start reviewing! Ahem.

Laffing at your response to Bill. I don’t want to, but I just can’t stop myself…
On a more serious note, I’m a reviewer for Prentice Hall Linux books. Most of the authors I talk to haven’t received their copies even though I have one in my hot little hands.
You already wrote it – you’re useless to them now

I remember when my first book was published… my first copy arrived in the mail… no one was anywhere near me… and as I wandered down the dock (yes, I lived on a boat then) I kept wishing for a brass band.

The cracking of the spine, the smell of the pages, the allure of the design, the name on the cover – you celebrate that book, man. You start planning your unpacking ritual.
I suggest you involve egg nog. In some form.

You can check out the first review for Jeremy’s new book written by yours truly over at Blogcritics (http://blogcritics.org). Here’s a link to it:
