As The Play Girlz noted, City of Villains is out. I was an off-again, on-again fan of City of Heroes (mainly off when I was poor, on when I was bored), so it was pretty obvious I’d pick up City of Villains on its first day out, take the day off and veg for the first time in a month.
I’m really enjoying the game so far. Similar enough to CoH that I could jump right in, but different enough (I’m playing a MasterMind) in a lot of ways (door missions, “newspaper” missions, how well cities are done, etc). Overall I’m enjoying it. I’m playing as “Snifter” on the Triumph server if you want to hook up sometime

I didn’t get around to the “newspaper” missions. That sounds pretty cool. Can’t wait to get all this server stuff sorted so I can get back to playing and meet up with “Snifter”. Stupid regionalization. But it’s my own fault for forgetting I was in Europe!

Ingrid, yeah they are very cool. You do 2-3 of these “interesting” missions like Schemes, earn some extra cash and then you can do a more rewarding mission like robbing a bank or something.
It’s a nice touch, also because Newspaper missions are different per zone AND you don’t need to go to a contact. Very cool

At first I really dug ‘City of Heroes’, but eventually it succumbed to the same issue I’ve had with every MMPORG–lack of longterm objectives. This isn’t necessarily a complaint about the game–it was really well-designed–just a personal bias I’ve tried repeatedly and without success, to defeat.

Darren, that’s one of the reasons I dig CoV. Besides the over-arching plotline (which is decent enough), and the interaction with CoH players (which is rocking), there are also a number of objectives which can take months to finally complete.
It’s not for most players, but I dig it

I don’t know when I’ll get this server issue sorted. See, it turns out, with my European key, I can only play on European servers. I need a US key. Know of any Americans wanting to play on EU servers who’d want to trade keys with me? I still haven’t used mine.
What I’ll probably do is try to sell my EU key on eBay or something, and purchase a US key from the store. But paying another $50 for a key is making me gulp.
Stupid games.
