Interview on Blog Marketing & Secret Project #1!

My recent interview with Neville Hobson, of For Immediate Release, is now live! Neville was one of the first people to interview me way back in January, after having been fired for blogging and after starting the book deal process. At the time I was still undecided on publishers, but the chat really helped me get into what was going on.   We talked about all kinds of things in the show, including Blog Marketing, InsideBlogging and why it died as well as my secret project #1 that I’ve hinted at in the past.   The news? It’s a blogging network. The details are still largely under wraps, but we’re expecting to unveil it in the next 3-4 weeks. That said, if you can figure out what the name is from the logo, there are already a number of blogs live. In fact, if you can only figure out the first 2 characters in the logo, there are a number hidden links on Google to the new network.   It’s not even in alpha state yet, so forgive the untidiness of some of the blogs if you do find them ;-)  

Need a Podcast Intro?

I was recently asked to do a set of intros for The Podcast Network. Not surprising since I used to do a show for them. I enjoyed it, though, and figured since I’ve got a bit of extra time today (trying to only do about 4-5 hours of work today, since it IS a holiday and all) I’d see if anyone else wanted any intros done.   Drop me a comment or an email. I can’t guarantee it’ll be funny or even useful, but I’ll do my best given my talents and energy :)  

Darren Earns 100,000$/year from Blogging

Darren Rowse, who’s one of the hardest working bloggers I know, announced that in the last year he earned more than 100,000$ from AdSense! Congrats Darren!   These kinds of stories are inspiring, in both a positive and negative ways. On the positive side, it’s great to show that there’s decent money in blogs (broken down, about 50$/hour). On the negative side, most people will look at the numbers, quit their job and then fail. Congrats to Darren, but to anyone who wants to chase him to 250,000$/year, realize that he’s spent 2 years doing this, at more than 12 hours per day (almost every day). He’s put the time in, and really deserves the reward.
