Well, my first book is effectively done. Good stuff.
I’ve decided I like writing books, and I feel like writing another. So, my next project is also a blogging book, though it’s targeted at regular folk who want to actually improve their lives by leveraging blogs. In some places it’ll be fundamentals, but in others it’ll be practical ways to do things like increase your industry credibility, improve your relationships, have more fun at your hobbies, etc.
It’s really targeted at regular folk. The publisher will be SpiderWorks. They have a fairly unique model in that their books are published as eBooks and Print-On-Demand books simultaneously, and they then split profits with the authors 50/50. This means that on an eBook the authors get about 7$, and on a print book they get about 9.50$. Which is crazy.
Their primary sales vehicle is through affiliate programs: affiliates get 1$ for every book earned (which is also very good).
I’ll be writing this book with a co-author, and a real old-school Ensight guy, Aaron Brazell (see his post announcing this for more info). Aaron’s a great guy who was totally instrumental in Ensight launching. For those who don’t know, Ensight started off as a group blog, way way back in the day. Both Aaron and I were the most active, though eventually I asked the group if I could simply take it over.
Aaron and I have had issues in the past, but we’ve also had a hell of a lot of good times. He’s someone I really respect for his drive, his love for his family and his sense of humour. As well as his ability to find buttons on webpages. My god he’s good at that
Anyways, we’ll be working on this project over the next few months. I’m considering seeing if we can write this book in a much more open-ended, Naked Conversations, type of way, but we’ll see. This book is designed to grow the blogosphere.
We’ll likely launch a book blog at some point, since there are two of us and it makes it easier to consolidate feedback, so if you want to review just hold your horses. We’re both excited about this book. It’s a nice project, with a different publishing model, which should be a lot of fun. It’ll be my first time with a co-author on a book, which I’m also looking forward to.
Inside Joke: My only fear is if the book templates we use include an Edit option. That’d be really, really bad

Edit buttons…. Almost as bad as orange barrels. They both make my life hell.

Dan’s the man, and a good friend up here in St. Stephen
He’s also normally MUCH more verbose
