A Personal Blog
Ugh @ Aliant
Now that Email is working… FTP isn’t.
Tech 1′s answer: Reboot my machine.
Tech 2′s answer: “We don’t support FTP applications, you’ll need to email [x]” (x was a non-existant email address)
Tech 3′s answer: I think I know what this might be, let me get back to you.
This has now been 3 hours on the phone. Still waiting for a resolution. Last time I waited for a resolution it took almost a week.
*Jeremy sends a big fat “Grrr” @ Aliant*

I just switched over to A Small Orange and I’m loving it after already getting great support with having SSH and Ruby on Rails setup :)

The “I’m sorry, we don’t support that” was always one of my favorite lines back when I was doing tech support.

Just to be clear, Aliant provides my actual connectivity. I’m very happy with my hosting with Hostrocket (www.hostrocket.com). Thanks for all the tips though everyone :)

Your mom provides my connectivity.
But seriously, Jeremy maybe you can lease a T1 line from your place to here, and I can patch you through to our internet. We just bought a load balancing box capable of balancing traffic in and out between 4 ADSL connections.

Oh I thought that a problem with FTP would mean a problem with your host but I guess a service provider can block the port just as easily.

Stephan,
I was, obviously, thinking the samething.
