Yahoo Sucks…
The next chapter in this gruesome tail of lost email is that not only is my email gone, but my all of my accounts across ALL Yahoo properties are gone. 10 years of history erased in a heartbeat. Wonderful.
I now have nothing at all tying me to Yahoo, which is weird.

Thats a bummer, but a perfect time to move to Gmail!

On Google you at least get POP access so you can download the messages to your PC. I like having email on my own computer.

I will have to say go local. Use any software you want (Outlook Express / Mozilla Thunderbird), and save a copy of all emails you care about on your local computer along with a copy on the server.
Guess this is a perfect example of “you get what you pay for”. Gmail is great, but given that it is free, they do not owe you anythng and if their server crushed (for some reason) or your information is lost, they wouldn’t care either…
Good luck though.

Why are you bashing Yahoo? They give you the option to backup your email!
This is the same responsibility you have to take when you save your email to your local HD!
And uhhh. GMAIL and YAHOO are not quite comparable. Yahoo has options like briefcase, calendar, notes etc. that GMAIL doesn’t have!

Backing up my email doesn’t help when I don’t have a computer anymore (which is why I’m using Yahoo in the first place) ;-)
