History of the Graphical User Interface
Ars Technica has a great history of the GUI that just came online.
I was one of those “Xerox invented it, Apple stole it, Microsoft stole that” kinds of people. It’s great to realize that, really, everyone stole everything from someone else and none of this is unique. It’s like an ecosystem where each new GUI borrows some ideas, improves on others and tosses out a few new ones as well.
Also, crazy that the idea for the Internet, GUI’s and the mouse came from the 1930s!

That makes sense. Everyone steals from everyone and you’ll (usually) end up with a good result — the best from all.

No matter who invented it. I love the GUI on my MAC.
