I’ve now finished about 100 pages of my book. This has caused me to stop and think: “how can I get the community more involved”.
This will be the first business book out there on blogging, and I want to not only convey the right information, but also give a sense that this book is bigger than me (which it is).
So, I’ve begun sending out emails to a variety of people for them to contribute their opinion as “sidebars” (200 ish word callouts which make one solid point, make it well, and give the author credit).
This will not only allow me to feature some cool people in the blogosphere, it will also make it so I have to write less
Anyways, if you are interested in a particular area of the subject, please let me know. There are between 30-50 sidebars to go around, so I’m happy to get a lot of people involved.
What do you think? Is this a good idea?

I think this is a great idea, and I would love to be able to contribute a different perspective. As a Pastor and a “Tech Head”, I understand the value of a blog, and I recently moved our entire church website as well as all sub-sites to blogs. The response in just a few weeks has been great. I think with a lot of the new books coming out on blogging, we have focused on the power that the blog has on business, and this is true, but we have seen major benefits in our church with this. Most organizations see real danger in being transparent (especially the church), and we have made a big leap that we think others should make.
Even though our blog is new, I think this is a perspective that more people need to hear about.

Depends on the “point” but I’d love to do that for you…

I wouldn’t mind contributing in some way. Are there any specific topics that you need sidebars for?

Maybe I’ll be able to contribute in some way, too. Could you mail me some specifics when you get the chance to? Cheers

An excellent idea Jeremy. If you want any perspective from PR and marketing folks using blogs, blogging or monitoring blogs, drop me a line.

I’ll write one on the Core Values of Blogging.
Or Blog Wars 2005.

P.S. Why did this comment post immediately, while other comments seem to be moderated/delayed?

Hey Jeremy - if you want another Jeremy to write on PR, I can fight with David over it. Or, I can take the contrarian view, which I do already.
