New Blog Launch: The Wealthy Blogger

Okay, I noted I’d be launching a new blog soon.

Thanks to everyone who gave input (Darren, Greg, Nicole and everyone else!).

The site is now ready, so I’m now “launching” this.

The Wealthy Blogger is now live!

What is The Wealthy Blogger?

From the blog:

The Wealthy Blogger is effectively a personal money management blog from two guys who have a lot to say, but not a lot of credentials behind them. Unless The School of Hard Knocks qualifies. And, really, I think it does.

We’ll be covering the “end-to-end” issues surrounding financial freedom and independence from not owning your own money. Initially we’ve focussed on the aspects of debt and credit cards and those will undoubtedly continue to be large subjects – since they are so importnat in our society.

However our ultimate goal is to cover the whole process. From foundational things such as estate planning and retirement basics, through debt reduction and management, through to retirement savings options and how to invest smartly and appropriately.

We want to keep it practical, easy to understand and applicable. And along the way I’m sure we’ll pick up some neat ideas from guest contributors and commenters.

So, head on over. Have a peek. And hopefully we can all have some good discussions around money management issues :-)

I Need Your Help!

Gnomedex is officially on.

Not only do I want to go… I want to speak. So far Ponzi isn’t answering my emails.

Maybe she’ll answer yours.

As per this post on her blog:

Any great ideas for speakers? Who is an influencer in your eyes? Email me! ponzi@lockergnome.com

So, anyone wanna petition Ponzi for me? C’mon, I’m cool. I’m hip. I’m happening. Hell, I’ll even eat sushi! ;-)

Update: Whoo, I got through. Thanks everyone!

Update 2: Uh oh, I think I need more support! Chris emailed me and said “No… don’t call ‘em off… keep ‘em comin’. :)” So go, go, go! Think we can fill up his inbox? ;-)

Back in Toronto Wednesday

I’m back in T-Dot Wednesday. I’m busy from 5:30pm onwards. Anyone want to do anything during the day?

Oh, if you’re free at night, I have some tickets to a wrestling event. Lemme know. It’s in Etobicoke.

Launching New Blog Tomorrow

I’m launching a new blog tomorrow. If you want to have a peak, contact me on MSN (jeremy@ensight.org) or Skype (jeremy_wright).

I’ve already shown a dozen people, and the site is 100 times better for it. So, I want to show a few more before our actual launch. I’m really excited about the subject. It’s something I’d been wanting to write a book on sometime. Maybe this’ll provide me with some fuel for just such a book.

This Whole "Diversity in Blogging" Thing

Yes, I’m not talking about the hoopla about the border control stuff. I’ve moved on.

There’s been a lot of hoopla recently about how the top dogs in the blogosphere are white and male. Lots of people pissed off.

To me, it doesn’t make any sense. Doesn’t every blogger have a personal list of people they look up to? Isn’t that their “A List”?

On my A List are

Hell, here are my top 10 people I respect in the blogosphere right now. This is my A List. And note that while at least half are white and male, a fair number aren’t. Not that it matters, but to those to whom it does matter, this is how I view the issue. Here they are, in no particular order:

Lee Lefever – for being one of the nicest people I’ve ever met Dave Shea – for being able to have a laugh and to chat with a nobody like me without rolling his eyes even once Renee Blodgett – for always wanting to “just chat” Neville Hobson – for having the class to go with his hoity toity British accent Stowe Boyd – for being himself all the time, anytime, anywhere and for knowing when to support you and when to take you to task Suw Charman – for being so cool I didn’t realize I’d only known her for a few days before calling her “the rockingest chick ever” Robert Scoble – not for the normal reasons. I respect Robert for pioneering the “be yourself online, in spite of what others say” side of blogging, and doing it better than anyone else while earning more kudos than anyone can count. Marc Orchant – for having the guts to say yes, and the balls to say no, whenever I ask him to participate in something Mike Hillyer – for being just as good at kicking my ass at games as at having his ass kicked Pudd – for being cooler than cool, and funner than fun all while being hotter than hot

Who’s your A List? Why are they on it? Does your A List include your mom? Isn’t this what is important? Who cares about the guys with all the links from 5 years ago who are quoted in the media.

Blogs are about you and your relationships. So, who is your A List?

Update: I forgot a lot of very cool people in my list. Including Darren. This is the problem with only including a certain number of people :( Sorry to everyone I didn’t include. It wasn’t meant as any disrespect.
