Big Changes for Little Boys

Category: GeneralJeremy Wright @ 9:40 am

The movers have come and gone. Neither of the boys were able to sleep while they were here, so immediately after they left we put them both down. Evan woke up crying, which was slightly unusual. But he went into shock when he came out of his room. He was totally confused, looking around for anything familiar. He asked (in his own 20 month old way) where the TV was, where the chair was, where Alex was….

It was like he was looking for anything to place himself. While doing this he was balling his eyes out and wandering around aimlessly.

A poor Lost Boy.

We brought out his “Canada” lawn chair (baby sized) and he smiled. But he was still completely traumatized. Poor boy.

We eventually got him dressed and out to MacDonald’s both to blow off some steam and to provide something familiar. He loves the McD’s play gym, even though it’s big and he’s scared of most of it. He loves to wander around pointing out the stairs (”staya! staya daddy!”). Sometimes he even climbs the stairs.

The one close to use is the most “little kid friendly”, which works out well.

Today was full of kids though. There were probably 20 7 year olds running around. He was, to say the least, a little overwhelmed.

Poor boy.

But, he had fun, had some laughs and did run around. So he’s in bed now. Hopefully dreaming of things he knows and loves.

This’ll be his first move since he was 6 months old, and we’ll try our best to make it seem more like a “trip” (which he’s fine with) than a move. But, seeing all his stuff walk out the door (with the “Guy! Guy!”s) probably didn’t help. Hopefully he can do this drive. We’re going to try and take it easy on the drive.

Unless of course I get a gig I’ve been hinting at for a couple of weeks, in which case we’ll need to boot it as I’ll need to be in NYC for Wednesday.

So, yeah, empty place. Only a couch left. But that’ll be gone tomorrow. Carpet cleaning tomorrow. House cleaners Monday. Then we leave at 10:30am.

Then the journey begins!

We should meet up sometime, my kid is running all over the place. He would have fun playing with Evan :)
