T Minus 7 Days … And Counting…

Category: GeneralJeremy Wright @ 3:04 pm

7 days from now we will be on the road to North Bay, Ontario. The trip is roughly 3000km. 25-35 hours.

We’re then going to stay in North Bay for a day or two before making our way a leisurely 5 hours south to Shelburne (ie: 1 hour north of Toronto).

In the leadup to every move there are unforeseen costs. For ours, it was my drum equipment that I’ve been amassing over the last year. We forgot that, y’know, 4000$ worth of drum gear deserves better than some ratty old towels. So, 500$ in cases later, including a golf case (nothing else was big enough) for my rack and part of a foam mattress (because the snare case didn’t have any foam in it) and we’re set on that front.

Yes, moving can require creativity.

It’s been good though. I think we’re about halfway done packing, with about 5 days left to pack. We’re hiring movers, cleaners and dancers to help make the transition easier. Really all we have to do is pack. Oh, and pray to everything that’s good that this place actually gets rented in the next 5 days. Otherwise we’ll be paying rent here until November – in spite of living 3000-5000km away.

This is not the definition of a “good time”.

Anyways, to those near and far, in the next week we’ll either be significantly nearer or significantly farther from you (unrespectively). You should mark your calendars ;-)

Good luck with the move Jeremy, I remember the exact same things you are going through when we moved 6 weeks ago. One tip, don’t have a sister-in-law (who is the youngest in the family) who gets married the day before you move, it just adds stress that you don’t need :-) .

    J. All the best…

We (well the company) paid $12k to move us 9,990miles from Sydney, Australia to Lac-Megantic PQ, Canada.

Must say though, that was easier than moving 4 blocks in downtown Sydney.

BTW: Check out this awesome calculator
