What sort of ‘audio junkie’ are you looking for?

Whoop, PC audio. Getting some weird buzzing / etc issues, and so forth. I have a few different recording needs. I’ve figured out the basics of how to use Skype for podcasting, just need to get rid of an interminable buzz happening in certain situations…

Laptop? Fan?

Possibly a grounding issue (ground cycle hum), shielding, interference from your monitor, etc.
I would first try turning off the monitor and trying it, and possibly fluorescent lights in your room.
Second look up on google how to ground a microphone.
Finally, perhaps shielding is the problem.
But it really wouldn’t surprise me if it’s interference from your monitor, speakers or lights.

Here’s the weird thing: it only happens when Skype is on. Otherwise there isn’t any buzzing at all.

skype does control (unless you tell him not to) the sound settings, perhaps it does turn something on which should not be on?
plus you could try to adjust the settings for usb / which device to use in skype.
