As I mentioned a year ago, I’m a sucker for a good Superbowl ad.

Last year I found a site that had previews of them before they aired. No such luck this year. I’ll be updating this page later today with my favourites from the event.

To get the festivities started, here’s the banned GoDaddy ad.

ps: No, I don’t care about the football (football’s social for me, I only jive with it when I’m around other fans). For me it’s all about the goofs, jars and plays made in the ad space!

Sahara: 2/10. I’ve seen previous previews. This did nothing for me.
The Longest Yard: 2/10. Ditto…

Anheuser Busch

Bud Light: Parachuting: 7/10. Heh. Good enough to show it to my wife.
Bud Light: Cedric the Entertainer: 5/10. Meh, I rolled my eyes. It was an obvious and cheap shot. Not that the Parachute one wasn’t. Ah well, guess I’m weird about what I like.
Bud Light: While You Were Out: 6/10. Eat it! ;-)

Ameriquest: Taser Scare: 7/10. Hee hee. Reminds me of a certain Cartman Christmas song…

Honda Truck: Mountain Climbing: 8/10. I give this high marks both because Honda’s finally doing a truck, and because the name of the trucks is what the commercial is: Ridgeline. Not many other products can make that claim. Well done.

McDonalds: Lincoln Fry: 8/10. Good stuff riding the recent eBay trend. Wasn’t incredibly funny, but it was good enough. For McDonalds.
McDonalds: The Lincoln Fry, Part 2: 6/10. Oooh, look, a story line! ;-) Alright I guess.

Degree for Men: Either 8/10 or 2/10… Some of the visuals are … Disturbing… Maybe it’s just my eyes. …

Novartis Ciba Vision Contact Lenses: 2/10. This had already aired. Why re-air a Superbowl commercial?

Olympus
Olympus’ New Groove Machine: 9/10. Best one so far. The footage looks very familiar though. Wondering if I’ve seen it before (old couple especially). Maybe it’s just a recycled concept from previous Olympus stuff. Device looks awesome though. I want to see more of it.

Diet Pepsi: P. Diddy Truck Trend: 9/10. Awesome. Great trend-catching.
Diet Pepsi: Ladies Man: 3/10. Not so good trend-catching.

Pizza Hut
Pizza Hut: It’s the Muppet Show: 2/10. They could have done a lot better with the material presented by The Muppet Show. Disappointing. That said, I’m still going to be trying this pizza ;-)

XXX: State of the Union: 2/10. Again, recycling movie trailers? Okay, I get that it’s hard to find a wider audience, but something new woulda been nice.

Ford Truck – Tougher Than Bikers: 6/10. Maybe if they were Dodge trucks…
