A Personal Blog
Microsoft Launches Blogs
Since Ensight is being sold I’ve been considering setting up a personal blog. MSN Spaces integrates into MSN Messenger (new version out tonight) so that you can communicate more easily with all of your friends – online and offline.
Here’s an interview with the team
Here’s a demo of MSN Spaces
Here’s the main site
These links may not be live until later tonight as this isn’t officially launched yet.
This really seems like a very good way to do this. Some of the versatility is viewable in some of the current staff blogs:
Scott Isaacs (web experience architect)
Mike Torres (program manager on web experience)
Michael Connolly (group program manager on web experience)
Dare Obansajo (program manager on backend)
Jay Fluegel (program manager on web experience)
Will this work? This will likely become the largest blogging service. In 24 hours. Guaranteed.

Blogging is one market that I didn’t want to see Microsoft completely take over. Should have expected it though, that’s what Microsoft does.

Watch the demo.
I’m not saying Microsoft should dominate, but as soon as it becomes an MSN property it’s REALLY HARD for Microsoft not to have 20-50 million users.
A few notes about this launch:
- valid HTML (not XHTML)
- designed to work “properly” in all browsers
- integrates into MSN Messenger (so you can see new photos and posts by your friends)
- VERY customizable interface
- VERY easy sharing of photos

I just trackbacked to this and threw together my own thoughts on this in a rather quick, flow-of-thought manner. The integration with Messenger and even Hotmail will be a huge help and will also get more people to sign up for those services after signing up for their own Space. It’s really a win-win for Microsoft, but it’s a bit of a lose-lose for everyone else; the blogosphere will get a good bit more homogeneous with this launch.

I am new and haven’t learned trackbacking as yet (is it possible with blogger.com?). Anyways, thanks for the news – here’s my post about it. I hope thats allowed.
