Who’s Doing Blogging Books?

Category: BloggingJeremy Wright @ 7:08 am

I’m doing one.
Robert Scoble & Shel Israel are doing one called “The Red Couch”.
Hans Henrik Højberg Heming is doing one based on his master’s thesis.
Susannah Gardner’s writing a For Dummies book called “Buzz Marketing with Blogs” (it’s almost done now, she’s working on the last chapter).
Tyme is doing one, not on corporate blogging.
Trevor Cook is doing one about this being a new medium, way to communicate, express yourself, etc.

All in all, very exciting.

Assuming everyone gets a book deal by the end of the month (seems like Trevor and I are closest as we’re both at the same stage), expect to see ours out by March-April and the rest out in June-July, at least based on what I’m reading.

Robert and Shel have to work through the whole thing of co-authoring, as well as keeping everything open and online. And Hans is German, not writing in his native language, trying to find a US publisher.

My biggest challenge will be trying to write the proposal this week while working, doing my contract writing, blogging and doing everything else I’m trying to do whilst launching a company. And, not ignoring my family.

Good times! This is so exciting, to be honest. Loads of work, but there’s no more exciting time than when you’re watching something you love being born… And I’m at that stage in 3 separate areas right now which is so cool!

Will second batch of blogging books be better than first?
    Robert Scoble writes in jest:
We got a blog book war going on.
Though the word “war” might be a tad un-PC in light of our current situatin in Iraq, several bloggers are working on blog-related books. Scoble is working on a blog-related …

    Hi J.

Just for clarification – Yes I’m born in Germany, that makes me German, but I live in Denmark and I’ve my citizenship her. I’m a proud Dane :-)

Yes – I just wrote a Master Thesis about “Weblogs – a Catalyst for Radical Innovation”, and Yes I stumbled over many interesting perspectives during my writing.

The “book” that I’m announcing will not be written by me alone – at least I hope so – It will be written by you, you and you, The Blogosphere who wants to contribute. I only framing the hole thing and of course writing a chapter and here and there…..

I hope you will join despite the fact you are writing a book your self….

    Best Regard
    Hans Henrik

  6. Tyme says:

Mine is not being published – mine is online released under Creative Commons. So I won’t be joining you to the race of the getting published…thank goodness. Mine will cover corporate blogging but it is not the focus.

I am much further along that any of you (with the exception of Susannah because she is on her last chapter) because I’ve been working on mine since April. Although with the changes that have been going on lately it’s been hard to keep up!

Good luck with your project. :)

  7. Trevor Cook says:

It will be interesting to see how it all goes – the other publisher I pitched to said there was no market for books about blogging part of her reasoning was that bloggers are too busy blogging to read books!

  8. Susannah Gardner says:

“Buzz Marketing with Blogs for Dummies” is scheduled to hit shelves the first week of March, my editor tells me. Still working on that last chapter!

A bevy of books on blogging
The Red Couch isn’t the only new book in the works on blogging. There are quite a few! Jeremy Wright has compiled a list and some comments about what each title plans to cover, which you can read in Jeremy’s
