Surprise Announcement: InsideBlogging

Okay, “surprise” may be a bit strong.

However, the InsideBlogging site is now live!

By “Live” I mean we’ve put up a blog and some basic details, as well as a way to contact us.

The plan is to keep the blog updated with our progress. If you’re looking to stay abreast of what’s going on, that’s really the easiest way of doing it. Subscribe to the RSS feed.

What is InsideBlogging?

A blogging consulting venture. I’ve had so much business come in through the eBay auction that I can’t handle it alone, which is why Darren and I are teaming up. We have about 6 potential clients right now (as well as the secured one from eBay) literally ranging from a 1 man project up to 3 of the largest companies in the world (two are Fortune 500 companies).

What Will We Be Doing?

The specifics are “to be announced”, however we’re looking to provide two basic classes of services: “traditionaly” blog consulting where we help companies figure out if blogingg’s right for them, help them do the installation and setup and basically try and maximize the return for companies interested in blogging. That could be as simple as setting up a blog and giving them training on how to best use the blog or as complex as setting up multiple blogs, finding writers and trusted sources and ensuring everything flows well on a regular basis (think “Content Director” type roles in a media company).

The second area is actually providing blogging services. This should be fairly self explanatory, but I want to be clear that it isn’t our goal to be “the voice” of companies, not by any stretch. Anything that requires a company-fueled voice should be done by someone in the company. But there are a lot of other areas that blogs can be useful. It’s those that we’ll be focussing on - and judging by the enquiries we’re getting a lot of businesses are thinking along these lines.

What’s the Plan?

Step 1 is to get everything in order. What will we be doing, securing the client deals, finding bloggers, partnering with media and marketing companies, etc.

If you are a potential client or partner, please don’t hesitate to let us know.

This will be an ongoing project so there is still a heck of a lot of work to do. We know we’re blazing a bit of a trail, and we just hope we’re heading in the right direction. Typically speaking I’d be one to say that if there’s a demand for it you’re heading in the right direction. But this is so new it’s always hard to say if it’s viable long term.

Watch this space. And that space.

And leave feedback anywhere, feel free to spread the word, etc.

Respectfully disagree with this: “Anything that requires a company-fueled voice should be done by someone in the company. But there are a lot of other areas that blogs can be useful.”

A long time customer of a company could be a good blogger :) There are two sides to any company and it would be nice to hear the long (and short) time customer sides of things to balance out the company line on things.

Okay, okay, I’ll stand corrected on that aspect. Havinga customer blog would be quite amazing.
