Yahoo Versus Google
My article comparing Yahoo and Google is now online.
Again, while these companies are currently direct competitors, their long term goals are incredibly different:
while both companies provide similar services, they couldn’t be more different. Yahoo’s service is itself, which is very profitable for Yahoo. Google’s service is finding information to other services. There isn’t much doubt that both companies will have a solid place in the future, as long as they can continue to bring in the visitors and continue to do what they do best.

I see them as quite similar – search, directories, news, email, shopping, etc. Yahoo gets a lot of information from other sites and packages it up on their own site.

Which is all covered in the article :) They compete in the short term, but their longterm goals are entirely different :)
