Looking for Slashdot Wizard
Okay, weird position title, I know, but I couldn’t think of anything more appropriate.
I work for a news site. A news site which will be negatively affected by a recent Google News announcement. A news site which needs to keep it’s traffic up.
So, we are looking for someone to specifically do just that, by getting stories approved at Slashdot. Do whatever it takes, nothing against the rules. Basically, every story you get approved is 50$ for you.
Also, any suggestions you have for more traffic will also earn you cash proportionately to the amount of traffic that is brought in.
If this scheme works, we are happy to up the pay. While we’re willing to hear other offers, we are not willing to simply talk to people who can “increase our traffic” in some vague way. If you have specific proposals, you can make them.
But, really, we are looking for someone willing to put in the legwork and get Slashdot stories approved, and if the person is able to get wider traffic growth that would be a huge bonus and would, obviously, mean extra pay.
For the right person, this could easily mean an extra 1000$/month in income with very little actual work since we’ll (specifically me) be producing all the content.
Interested parties should email me at jeremy@ensight.org with any specific details they feel are relevant. We may choose to “hire” up to two people to cover different aspects of this.
Feel free to ask questions here or via email.

What’s the Google News announcement? I didn’t see anything on webmasterworld or my feeds…
Thanks,
Sean

Last week Google News changed their algo for which sites are on the frontpage for each section, which one gets the main article links, which ones go deep and how that transition happens.
Minor change, but for us it’s cut our traffic in half in spite of a doubling of our content.

This little shared box? No. The site for eBCVG can though :)

I think I’d differentiate on whether on not the story makes the front page of Slashdot. There’s a lot that don’t.

I hope they take the foresight to mirrordot you if they do that…
