Following on from “Where should I live?”, I thought I’d do two interesting things. The first is list a couple of interesting sites that might pique YOUR interest for living abroad. The second is show some properties that I found particularly intriguing, just for kicks.

We’re far, far, far, far from decided, but this is an interesting exercise. Darren has noted that he feels we should buy here and rent abroad, thus not tying us down.

It’s actually a great idea, and I think it’s the way we might just go.

Either way, we need to decide:

  • Do we want to live abroad at this point in our life?
  • Where do we want to live?
  • What are our priorities? (culture, education, etc – these are reasons we’re thinking France / Germany actually, the education system and culture rock)

Anyways, here are a couple of the real estate sites I like so far.

Daltons Property – this is a site designed for UK citizens, but had one of the best search functionalities for someone who’s unsure of where they want to live: you select your search criteria and then search the whole freaking world!

Find A Property – this is a european realty site. Not a huge amount of listings, but one of the few I could find that weren’t in the 400K+ range for homes.

So, what are some interesting properties?

Restaurant in France – 8 bedrooms, bar / restaurant downstairs, parking for 8 cars and a CAVE. How cool is this? Cool enough that if someone wanted to go halfsies (hey @ darren….. ;-)) I’d be very, very tempted. We can share sat-net connection fees ;)
