A Personal Blog
Status Report
Okay, it’s been a pathetic few weeks for me in terms of blogging. In fact, it’s been a pathetic 2 months. I can’t say I’ve run out of steam because I don’t feel down or whatever. Maybe it’s just that less interesting things are happening in real life (more about that in a later post today where I try and walk the tightrope between honesty and losing my job). As much as I like to talk about theoretical things, I’m also a very practical person.
I’m the guy who’ll be in a “strategic meeting” and ask “how does this benefit us or our clients” and watch the room go silent. Which is fun. Especially when it’s the CIO presenting.
So, I haven’t been blogging much, or at least I haven’t been blogging very much that’s high quality content that doesn’t count as noise. As a result my traffic’s level’d off to an “okay” level of about 250,000 pageviews/month. It’s been stuck there for 2 months, and I’m sure the only thing that’s kept it there is some of the more recent press I’ve been getting during the same period. I’m sure it’s not because of me.
Again, this isn’t an apology post. I can’t guarantee anything will change. I can’t guarantee I’ll do less navel gazing or talking about blogging or talking about my projects. I can’t guarantee I’m going to contribute anything incredibly worthwhile before the end of the year.
But, I love to blog and I will keep blogging. It may not be my regular 5-10 posts per day, but it should be at least that many per week. I’m still doing a fair amount of blogging to my ClipBlog, if you still want to know what’s catching my eye (even if I’m not blogging about it).
All of that said, I’ve got a few posts up my sleeve for today in an effort to flex my rusty blogging muscles.
In other news, ResumeWiki’s set to “launch” this Friday, whatever that means. It’s had about 6,000 visits since it started. It’s kind of died in terms of new users and people helping edit the resumes, but that’s okay. Feel free to contribute if you so desire, either way I’ll be starting to promote it in the coming weeks.

Definitely better to slim down on posts than to force it. So you’ve made a couple of less posts per day – as you said, things could just be slow in your life or not Ensight-applicable. The flip-side to this would be looking for things to blog about which never flows as well and you could probably lose more readers (or have less come back) that way.
