They've headed in that direction for a while now. Then again, it seems as though they're filling holes in Windows that other OSes seem not to lack already. Apple has iPhoto and popup blocking in Safari, as well as Sherlock. Windows being the big mass-market target it is, maybe Google's just playing the "smart moves" card?
