Google Going Windows-Centric?
Just a weird thought.
Google recently acquired Picassa. Then it acquired Keyhole.
Both of these are Windows-only products. Both will surely start to generate millions of dollars in revenue fairly quickly (at least, once Picassa is no longer free).
Until these purchases, Google was very much a web company. Now a slightly different Google is starting to appear. I’m not exactly sure how it’s products tie together or if the decision was a conscious one to be Windows-only with it’s desktop apps.
It’s… Interesting.

Desktop search and the Google toolbar are also Windows-only. They’ve headed in that direction for a while now. Then again, it seems as though they’re filling holes in Windows that other OSes seem not to lack already. Apple has iPhoto and popup blocking in Safari, as well as Sherlock. Windows being the big mass-market target it is, maybe Google’s just playing the “smart moves” card?
