Free XP SP2 Support
This is just a general reminder. Again. If you’re having issues with XP SP2: call Microsoft. It’s a free call.
Not calling, and then complaining, is like not voting and then complaining: folk are just going to tell you to shut the hell up. And if folk don’t tell you this, just let me know. I’ll tell you to shut the hell up.
Have a nice day ;-)

I’m pretty sure 99% of the answers sound something like this: “Back up whatever important data you have if you can, then format and try again.”
The first time I installed SP2 it really messed up my computer. It deleted Windows Explorer, which made it really difficult to operate. Luckily I was able to transfer important files to my second hard drive through MS-DOS (most files are on the 2nd hd always, but things like emails get stuck in the main hd). Then I formatted, went to windows update and installed about 70 critical updates, including SP2. Now everything is working fine.
SP2 doesnt cause any problems as long as you don’t have any programs already installed on your computer. If you do, well it’s like playing a game of russian roulette…

My girlfriend accidently installed it on my machine at home. She opened up IE, and it pushed her right to it. After that, the machine was sluggish and half my programs worked. I uninstalled it immediately. Unfortunately, it’s still a bit messed up. It never crashed before this and now it does (and let’s me know that SP2 can “fix” it). It was working better than any machine I’ve ever had. I had zero intention of ever installing SP2.
I was kinda considering buying a new machine, probably would have waited, but now I’m obviously going to. If I’m going to format and reinstall everything, I might as well just buy a new machine. Woohoo SP2.
