Dell to Offer SuSE on Servers

Category: IT Thoughts, WorkJeremy Wright @ 6:29 am

Good stuff. Doesn’t affect us as we have sitewide licenses for SuSE already, and there’s no sense in paying twice…

But Dell is now making SuSE an installable option for all PowerEdge servers.

Well done, and congrats to Novell as this will only strengthen their bottom line.

Doesn’t Dell also offer RedHat as an installable option on servers? Been a while since I looked at Dell servers…

Yeah, they’ve done RedHat for a while. But they’re Novell partners so there’s been a lot of pressure to do SuSE as well.

SuSE is a great OS. Very easy to maintain and keep up to date. Most Windows-like Linux environment I’ve seen. I’m using it at home. I think it’s a good power move to have SuSE as an option.
