It sounds like you gave every excuse to like the site. And it doesn't hurt to have a few friends who work on it.

I don't think it looks anything like iTunes, though everyone is saying it's a rip off of it. I do think the site is bland, which out much energy to move me around it. The search seems to only search by song. Doing a search on Queen, did not bring up the band but by song titles with Queen in them. But no Queen songs or even the band named Queen appeared.

For some reason, IE must use a different set of HTML character codes, since they use &#159 which show up as bullets in IE but as Capital Y umlat in Moz (which is the correct character). They should have used &#149 for bullets. This does not make or break the site in the least, but it is odd looking to say the least.

It's still a new site, we'll see how everything goes though I can't say I will use.

Honestly, I don't hate it. I'd read all these cynical comments about how it was just going to be an iTunes ripoff (and it is understandably similar), but it's really not bad.

That said, I don't think I'll use it, because I use iTunes (the software) to manage my music. Microsoft isn't going to get the people who use iTunes; they'd have no real incentive to switch (at least not as long as the two stores are similar). But if you're not tied to Apple in any significant way, this seems (at first glance) like a pretty good solution.
