Unofficial Windows 98 Service Pack

I’ve you’re into taking your life in your own hands (and violating the EULA for 98) and you are still running Windows 98 for some reason, there is a new UNOFFICIAL service pack available.

I’m using it on a box at work (off the network of course) and it’s been stable. Does some good stuff, but definitely increases stability.

Jay Allen Wins!!!

Yesterday, Jay Allen won MovableType’s Plugin Contest!

Huge congrats, and incredibly well deserved to Jay. There were lots of good plugins submitted (great ones even!), but for most bloggers nothing transformed blogging (or … didn’t transform it…) like Jay’s MT-Blacklist!

Apollo Images Released!

Awesome images from the Apollo 11 program have recently been released by NASA.

Here’s the gallery.

It’s dog slow right now (just got Slashdot’d…). I’m posting this here so I can check it out more tonight and really enjoy this stuff!

(if you’re a moon conspiracist, go away :-p)

The IE Team Has a Blog

I could have told you this was coming… But that wouldn’t have been any fun!

The IE Team has a brand new blog!

The IE team, of late, has become more open, more communicative and once again more involved in the community. This is a fantastic, and welcome, step.

I’m sure they’ll get flooded at first, but I urge them to keep their chins up. We want to see IE improve, and most of us do realise these guys work their butts off on a product they believe in.

Go team!

I Blog Therefore I'm a Genius

*stroke ego*

Apparently, blogging makes you think. And think like a genius, even. A blog I’ve just discovered (it linked to me… that’ll do it every time!) is Dewayne and Shadow.

Great piece which reflects on Thinking Like a Genius. The authors of the blog suddenly realise (*ding*!) that blogging does all of the things in this list:

1. Look at problems in many different ways, and find new perspectives that no one else has taken (or no one else has publicized!) 2. Visualize! 3. Produce! A distinguishing characteristic of genius is productivity. 4. Make novel combinations. Combine, and recombine, ideas, images, and thoughts into different combinations no matter how incongruent or unusual. 5. Form relationships; make connections between dissimilar subjects. 6. Think in opposites. 7. Think metaphorically. 8. Prepare yourself for chance.

So, therefore, blogging must make you think like a genius!

While reading the page above inspiration struck. Weblogging and Weblog reading automatically causes the weblogger to Think like a Genius. 1. When pursuing the creation of a new post many webloggers search through and use many different sources for inspiration and support of their writing. This allows them to look at the problem in many different ways and see the problem from many new perspectives.

2. When pursuing the threads that will ultimately be pulled together into a post or series of posts, the search itself will lead to a visualization of the problem and possible solution.

… [and more... wouldn't want to ruin this nice blog for you!]
