Nearly Got Killed
… On my way to work this morning. I’m going the speed limit and a car blasts past me. So, I switch lanes, as I figure when we get to the 2-lane bridge up ahead he’ll allow me to go the speed I want (since he’ll be way ahead).
We get to the bridge and he slows right down. To exactly the speed the guy in the other lane is going. It’s nearly a 1 mile bridge. And he’s tying up the lane. So I give him a little “hey, I’m back here too” honk.
Apparently he didn’t like that, so at the next lights he got out and started pounding on my window.
Poor old guy. Apparently he didn’t know I wasn’t a little old crippled guy. He kinda backed off a bit, but some interesting points he made:
1. Me honking was insulting his heritage
2. He was ‘passing’
3. Nothing wrong with going the speed limit
I couldn’t really argue with #3. At the same time, I asked him why he couldn’t just move over for 3 seconds so I could pass him. He stomped away at that point.
I’m still shaking. My colleague here at work says I should start a hidden camera website for these kinds of things because he never experiences them and always gets a laugh. ;-)
