Review: Starsky & Hutch

Category: ReviewsJeremy C. Wright @ 8:49 am

I finally pulled my ass out of my hat and rented Starsky & Hutch this weekend. I had no desire to see it in theatre, and really no desire to see it on video… But, we just found a local shop that rents new releases for a buch and I figured… What the hell, even 8 Mile would be worth a buck (kidding! I actually loved 8 Mile).

I never really saw the original series (being a bit young), but I caught the drift. So, there are probably a lot of little jokes I just didn’t get. So, as an outsider… I enjoyed the movie.

It seemed like it stayed pretty close to the original. It wasn’t the original, as there was still a lot of Stiller & Wilson in there… But that’s a good thing, since the movie was starring (cue the band): Stiller & Wilson!

As I said, it was totally a formula movie, but given the inspirational subject matter… That’s probably the best way to do it anyways. I laughed a few times (enough to make it worth a buck) and overall enjoyed it.

I fast forwarded through the car chase, and round about the end just wanted it to end… But it kept me entertained enough to say “well, that was better than I thought it would be” … And it was. Praying they don’t make a second one though ;-)
