Windows Update v5 Released
Windows Update version 5 was released to the public this morning. It’s essentially the same Windows Update we were seeing from XP SP2 screenshots. Some really good stuff here, though.
Primarily, the biggest thing is the ease with which users can keep their computers up to date now. Between the new client (BITS) and the new website the focus really has become ensuring your computer is up to date.
For instance, instead of making you pick individual downloads, you can either pick all the downloads you need to stay secure or all the downloads you need to stay secure and some extra optionals.
The default, of course, is the first one. This is fantastic for users. Not quite fantastic if you are in a corporate environment and some of the updates aren’t approved yet, but then you’d be using Software Update Services anyways, right? RIGHT?!
Anyways, good stuff, g’won and have a look!
