Review: The Terminal
Well, this has probably been my worst week since moving to Winnipeg 6 months ago. Just awful. Serious teeth problems, sick, issues at work plus this whole Winer thing I’ve gotten embroiled in suddenly.
Let me tell you I needed a break tonight! So, it was cool that Ryan, a coworker and I were able to go out and see a movie tonight.
To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t expecting a lot from The Terminal, and I wasn’t in the mood to see Dodgeball. So, I went in with bated breath. The previews didn’t set the mood very well, as they were all Red Violin-esque.
Anyways, to the movie!
This was one of the best story movies I’ve seen in a really, really long time. In fact, I can’t remember the last time a story movie so completely took me in, got me into each one of the characters heads, had the entire theatre laughing and gave you stuff to chew on after the fact.
I’ve seen a few reviews lambasting this movie, but I found a lot of quality there. I know that with most of my reviews I try and recommend a certain “mindset” to go into the movie with. All 3 of us loved it, and the only thing we had in common was that we were all in crappy moods. So, yeah, maybe you just need to be plain old pissed off to make this movie work for you. No idea.
The extended concept was great, each of the 4 main characters was fantastic and the ending was incredibly non-cheesy (okay, it could have been cheesier).
All of that said, you could easily see it on video and capture the essence… But there’s something about an entire theatre that’s into the movie which is really compelling.
Oh, and that guy really loves his goat! Never doubt the power of the goat!!!
