John's RSS Templates
Jan 16th
John has been so kind as to offer up his various RSS Templates to the world.
This helped me, as I did want to provide the whole content of my posts to readers, but wasn’t quite sure how to do it in a formatted manner.
Thanks John!
Friday Dilbert

Today’s one of those days I wish I could be squished. I’m actually basically out of work. It’s one of those once-a-year days where I’m merely in “in case someone needs you”.
Luckily for me there are likely to be several of those types of meetings today, closing out projects. Good fun.
In other news, our main IT provider recently fired our Account Manager and didn’t let us know. So I’ve had voicemails go unanswered for nearly 3 weeks and was just about to dump them… Until I called the Senior VP of Sales. And applied some not-so-gentle pressure to find out what the hell was going on.
Way to go Telus, score another point for customer service.
XBox Live Gamertags
Jan 16th
As background I recently got XBox Live (for Christmas); just like Doug. Signed up, got it working, no worries.
Then I had to choose a “GamerTag”. A “handle”. A nickname, if you will. Well, I chose “Jeremy W”. That’s only because “Jeremy W.” and “Jeremy Wright” and “JeremyWright” were already taken. Punks.
Personally I’m not really all that into representations of myself. Having been online for over a decade sure, I’ve had several handles / avatars for IRC, chat rooms, gaming, articles, forums, newsgroups…
But about 3 years ago I asked myself why I wasn’t just using my real name. And you know what, I couldn’t come up with a single reason. See, I’m more aware than most people that my contact details are generally splayed across the Internet. For me, there isn’t really any privacy issues that using my “real-ish” name engenders.
I’m not saying that everyone should use their real name, far from it (though it’d be easier of course). Some people are, rightly, very protective about their privacy. Some peopel will never even tell you their real name in certain online communities.
No worries.
But, just to say that if you ever see anyone, anywhere with “Jeremy C. Wright” or some variation of it, it could be me.
Oh, and I’m likely to be online playing: Crimson Skies, MotoGP and Top Spin.
