Okay, I’ve decided. I’m sick of being chained. I’m tired of being a prisoner.

Once I’ve settled in Winnipeg, things are going to change around here, and change fast.

First, I am done with my music being either on CD’s OR on my computer. I’m getting a “player” of some kind. It might be an iPod, but I’m leaning towards the huge Rio player right now. I will get an FM transmitter for it.

My process will become: buy CD / music, transfer to player, “fuggedaboudid”.

Then I’m no longer chained to the CD’s in my den, the music on my PC or the CD’s in my car. My music comes with me.

Second, I’m definitely getting a Personal Video Recorder (PVR). I’m getting digital cable when I get there, and want to enjoy some of the interesting programs I’ve been missing… But I want to enjoy them on my schedule. I’ll be looking at one of the smarter ones where I can just tell it to record series of shows instead of having to schedule them in.

I will most certainly be going wireless with my stereo systems, both for my PC and for the general boom box we’ll actually be replacing with a higher-end surround system.

And, I will get a more intelligent alarm clock. I am sick of hunting around for stock / currency prices, having to logon for weather, etc.

Finally, I will get a PDA that works with me, not against me. In fact, I’ll probably simply get a newer Nokia that has the Palm OS on it so I can take advantage of the things I do use (address book and calendar) and do away with the things I don’t (stupid, stupid games).

Convergence is dead? Bah humbug. I’m sick of non-convergence, and I’m going to drag my home into freedom whether it likes it or not.
