BlogRolling Gold
Jan 13th
I’ve always said that if I found a service truly useful I’d put my money where my mouth was. Personally I prefer to try them out first though.
So, I’ve been using BlogRolling.com to manage the list of outgoing links and blogs I like here at Ensight. I liked it, though there were some hiccups early on which prevented me from paying at the time.
Now I’m quite happy with it and have no problem shelling over the 20$ to support the developer and get some decent addons.
If you are using a service, like Technorati or BlogRolling, that you enjoy and is “essential” to your blog, I’d encourage you to think about paying a membership fee or donating. It’s the least we can do for developers who really have put a lot of work into something truly decent.
Washington Post'd
Jan 13th
Well, as one of the readers here found out early this morning, I’ve been quoted and so on in the Washington Post this morning concerning the Google IPO.
The article in question is here, and is very fair and evenly balanced. It’s basically a “state of play” covering the full range of opinions on the matter.
It seems my opinion has been used as a final closer, on the 4th page of the online version:
“All I hope is that Google stays the Google that it is no matter what happens,” one fan of the company wrote in a discussion on Google IPO Central. “Don’t sell out Google.”
The same person also posted a question: “Anyone know of a way I can get in on the deal?”
It’s that kind of interest, multiplied across the millions who use the company’s services and now want to own a piece of it, that worries Jeremy C. Wright, a self-described “Business and Tech type person” who asserts on his blog that the Google IPO “is evil.”
The hype surrounding the offering, he writes, is “creating a bubble-type mentality” that can end only one way — with a bust.
He compares the Google IPO to another famous IPO, the Netscape offering in 1995 that is credited with helping set off the first round of Internet mania.
“Hopefully Google fares better than Netscape did,” he writes.
I really do wish Google all the best. And I really do hope they fare better than Netscape did.
Bloggie Judge

I’ve been chosen as one of the, I believe, 6 judges for the Bloggie awards this year. Should be interesting :)
7: The Magic Number
Jan 12th
Ensight just hit a Google PageRank of 7. Flipping heck, I’ve never had a site with a PR of 7. Bit heady really… Time for bed. G’night, eh?
Stormwire Hosting & Stormwire.com
Jan 12th
Yup, still being plagued by DNS issues. Loads of emails from users. All emails to hosting company, whose name I’ll now reveal, get answered with “well, it works for us”.
Normally I wouldn’t reveal the name of the company, but it’s come down to the point where they are saying “well if you don’t like it, leave”. So I will be. And I’ll be lending my Google PageRank to the task as well.
So, yes, the hosting company is StormWire.com. Funny story. I used to own a webhosting company. Sold it. That company nearly went under so sold it to StormWire. Now I’m getting crap service. Again and again and again.
Well, once I move to Winnipeg I’ll be out of their hair.
