7: The Magic Number
Ensight just hit a Google PageRank of 7. Flipping heck, I’ve never had a site with a PR of 7. Bit heady really… Time for bed. G’night, eh?

Ignorant question: How do you discover what your pagerank is?
Congratulations on achieving a PageRank 7. Your site certainly deserves it.
PageRank is Google’s measure of the importance of a web page, based on the quality and quantity of incoming links.
PageRank can be read from the Google Toolbar, which can be downloaded at http://toolbar.google.com/ The PageRank appears as a green and white graph on the toolbar. The more green, the higher the PageRank.
You can also check your incoming backlinks by clicking on the blue oval “i” located beside the PageRank indicator.
Note: The Google Toolbar only works on PCs, and not on Macs. It apparently only works on MS IE too.
Hope that helps anyone who was looking for PageRank information.
And congrats again to Jeremy on a PR7.

Jeremy,
You got some news on the WashingtonPost:
“Type “Google IPO” into the vaunted search engine, and within 0.07 seconds, links to 14,000 Web sites come bounding back. The links lead in every direction: online columnists predicting the company’s initial public offering of stock will be the first bang of Internet Boom 2.0, discussion threads in which investors pine for a piece of the company, a blogger who insists simply that the Google IPO “is evil.” ”

Congratulations Jeremy,
PR7… wow, glad we link exchanged before you hit the bigtime. Or was it my PR.35 that pushed you over the edge? LOL.

Actually it wasn’t affecting you before. It is now though, thanks to the changes here: http://www.ensight.org/archives/2004/01/13/subscriptions_and_linkblog.html
So enjoy the backlinking, though it will be diluted. Sorry, maybe I’ll get an 8 next month? ;-)
